One day God spoke to Satan and asked what he had been doing. Satan said that he had been going around the earth trying to tempt people to do evil. God asked him, "Have you considered my servant Job? There is none like him on the earth, a perfect man who feareth God." Satan said that Job was only so perfect because he had been blessed with such great wealth. He said that if that was all taken away Job would no longer serve God. God challenged Satan to take away all of my wealth and see that I (Job) would still serve God. God told Satan that he must only spare the life of Job. One day a messenger came and told me that all my sons and daughters were eating in their older brother's house and a strong wind blew the house down and killed all of them. Later I received a message that all my sheep, oxen, camels and donkeys had been stolen and all my servants caring for them had been killed. I was so upset that I tore my clothes, shaved my heard and fell down and worshiped God. There was a time that sore boils covered my body from the top of my head to the soles of my feet. It was so painful that I tried to scrape them off. My wife told me that I should curse God and die. I told her that everything could not be good, but we should expect some evil in our life. When my three best friends heard of all the evil that had happened to me they came to grieve with me. They wondered what I had done to bring on this kind of punishment. They lifted up their eyes to Heaven; they cried, tore their clothes and sprinkled dust on their heads. I cursed the day I was born, but I never blamed God. Finally, God appeared to me in a whirlwind and I bowed before him and prayed for his forgiveness of my sins. Since God forgave me he restored to me seven sons and three daughters. The Lord blessed the last years of my life with twice as much wealth as I had before. I have lived to enjoy my children and grandchildren for four generations and have served God all of my life. My story comes from the book of Job in the Old Testament. Now I would like to ask you some questions about my life. Can You Answer These Questions?
